LAS VEGAS—A Nevada-based urban rescue team is reporting that they’ve helped the Colorado National Guard locate and airlift hundreds of people by helicopter from isolated areas in flood-ravaged areas east and north of Estes Park, Colo.
Clark County spokeswoman Stacey Welling in Las Vegas said Tuesday that the 80 members of Nevada Task Force 1 have been working 12-hour search-and-rescue shifts since they arrived Sunday.
Welling says program manager Mario Trevino hasn’t reported any injuries among task force members.
The task force is made up of Clark County, Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas firefighters, medical and first-responders from other area agencies, and search dogs.
Welling says the group has set up operations at fairgrounds in Loveland, Colo., under Federal Emergency Management Agency command.
