A former FBI official agreed to plead guilty to leaking classified information about a counter-terrorism operation, according to court papers filed by the U.S. Justice Department in Indianapolis.
The case stems from a leak to The Associated Press, a law enforcement official said. Court documents identified the former FBI agent as Donald Sachtleben, 55, of Carmel, Ind. In addition to two charges related to leaking classified information, he also agreed to plead guilty to two child pornography offenses.
The AP previously said a Justice Department review of its journalists’ phone records may be related to its May 7, 2012, report about an intelligence operation in Yemen that foiled a plot to blow up an airliner around the first anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden.
The department said Monday the case was related to the airliner plot.
