
A larger-than-life bronze statue of John Denver was removed this week from the Windstar property in Old Snowmass and loaded in a truck for relocation.
“Spirit,” a fixture at the site since October 2002, was moved Thursday to the Colorado Music Hall of Fame at FirstBank Center in Broomfield.
When the Windstar Foundation dissolved last year, a committee was appointed to deal with certain assets, including the statue. The donation was hammered out in July.
The Windstar Land Conservancy and Rocky Mountain Institute sold the Windstar property in April for $8.5 million, so the statue had to be moved, said committee member Karmen Dopslaff, also a former member of the Windstar Foundation’s board.
