Funk/jazz bassist has released a song in tribute to the late Hiroshi Yamauchi, the third president of video game manufacturer Nintendo.

The track is called “Bowzer’s Ballad,” named after the nemesis of Nintendo’s storied Mario franchise. The single sounds like credit music from one of the early Mario games, an appropriate eulogy for the man partly responsible for the development of everyone’s favorite cartoon plumber. Thundercat also announced another North American tour in support of his sophomore LP, For those who missed this summer, he’ll play Denver’s Larimer Lounge on November 19.
