Family and friends of Peter Morales, whom police say was killed by his live-in caretaker’s son this week, will gather for a memorial Sunday in Wheat Ridge.

The service will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at Crossroads Chapel, 9901 W. 50th Ave.

Morales, 70, was found dead Tuesday night inside a home in the 2800 block of Adams Street near City Park. Police said he had been beaten to death with a baseball bat, and they quickly arrested Zachery Cooper, 25, who faces charges of first-degree murder.

Cooper knew Morales as “Uncle Tony,” and had been living at the home on Adams Street off and on since being discharged from the military last year, his mother, Janet Segura, told police.

Segura told detectives that Cooper has mental health problems.
