Three Greeley gang members are facing racketeering charges related to a series of crimes, including the murder of a 20-year-old man.

The Weld District Attorney’s Office has charged Joseph Robert Bernal, 26, Corey Louie Moreno, 22, and Jose Manuel Velasquez, 27, with violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act.

The COCCA charges stem from a combination of crimes — dating back to 2010 — investigated by the Greeley Police Department Gang Unit.

According to the charges filed on Friday, the three are accused of involvement in gang activity for the purpose of “financial gain through illegal activities; to establish and maintain respect, power, control and influence over the entire gang subculture in prison and in the community through criminal activity, intimidation, fear and violence.”
