A prison escapee was apprehended Wednesday afternoon after he fled from police in a stolen car, which he crashed into a tow truck before running across Interstate 70.

The man was taken into custody by Denver police around 3 p.m., said Steve Warneke, a police spokesman.

The suspect crashed into a parked tow truck near Washington Street and East 51st Avenue, according to police.

The suspect ran across Interstate 70 before being chased down by officers, police said.

The suspect sustained minor injuries. No one else was hurt, Warneke said.
