GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Julius Sutton, who is one of two men arrested in the murder of Bill Smith last year, will now spend the next three decades behind bars.
The sentence was handed down after a jury found Sutton guilty of second degree murder, first degree arson, assault and tampering with evidence.
Last year, Sutton and Lucos Schultz got into a fight with Smith. The courts found that both men took part in assaulting Smith then setting his RV on fire with his unconscious body inside. Schultz was also sentenced to 30 years in prison for the crime.
According to KKCO-TV ), the defense argued Sutton was not the primary actor in the murder, but the judge disagreed.
