DURANGO, Colo.—The Colorado mining board has suspended the permit for Wildcat Mining Corp. in a dispute over a road the state contends was illegally built.
Regulators at the Mined Land Reclamation Division said Wednesday they lost patience after the company agreed to finish repairing the road near the hamlet of Mayday by Sept. 30. An inspection that day found that work had not started.
According to the Durango Herald ( ), new managers asked that the permit be kept in place to give them time to correct the company’s problems and the request was denied.
Wildcat can try to get the permit reinstated at a hearing early next year, when the board will decide whether to revoke the company’s bond and revoke the permit for good.
