The Castle Rock Town Council this week voted 6-1 to delay any action on quieting train horns in town until 2015.

Council members had considered two train horn quieting measures. The first called for establishing a quiet zone — where train horns are not required — by installing more secure gates at railroad crossings at Second and Third streets. The second measure was installing wayside horns at Second, Third and Fifth streets.

The council decided to delay a decision in part because the federal government is looking at relaxing some requirements for establishing quiet zones, town spokeswoman Caroline Kipp said.

Colorado’s to make quiet zones more affordable.
