There’s only so many times you can listen to renditions of “White Christmas,” “Santa Baby” or “Silent Night” before going insane. And don’t make the argument that itap only once a year, because if you’ve worked in retail, been shopping, watched TV or left your house between mid-November to early January, you’ve heard these songs enough times to fill half a lifetime.

Why don’t we listen to any modern, original Christmas music? Well, the problem is most contemporary Christmas music is pretty sickening — such as “Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas,” which is seriously a Christmas album by the “Duck Dynasty” cast.

So in order to put some newness in your holiday season this year, we put together a list of 20 contemporary original Christmas songs from rock, hip-hop and indie artists that don’t suck.

Sufjan Stevens — “Christmas Unicorn”

Julian Casablancas — “I Wish It Was Christmas Today”

Kanye West — “Christmas In Harlem”

Beach House — “I Do Not Care for the Winter Sun”

The Magnetic Fields — “Everything is One Big Christmas Tree”

Snoop Dogg — “Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto”

LCD Soundsystem — “Oh You (Christmas Blue)”

Death Cab for Cutie — “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”

Best Coast & Wavves — “Got Something For You”

Ludacris — “Ludacrismas”

The Flaming Lips — “Christmas At The Zoo”

Sufjan Stevens — “Sister Winter”

The Pogues — “Fairytale of New York”

The Knife — “Reindeer”

Mazzy Star — “Flowers in December”

The Walkmen — “Christmas Party”

Atlas Sound — “Artificial Snow”

Blink-182 — “I Won’t Be Home For Christmas”

Eels — “Everything’s Going to Be Cool This Christmas”

Low — “Just Like Christmas”
