Castle Rock police are increasing patrols around schools after a man tried to lure a child Tuesday afternoon.

About 4 p.m., a man asked a student near Castle Rock Elementary at 1103 Canyon Drive if he wanted a ride, according to a news release from police.

The boy immediately ran from the suspect, police said.

The suspect was in a large maroon SUV, with dark tinted windows, according to police.

Police are working with Douglas County schools while investigating the incident.

Residents are asked to call 911 if they see any suspicious people driving a maroon SUV with dark tinted windows.
