Donald Glover’s alter ego, , is crushing the Internet game, well, “Because the Internet.” Gambino celebrated the release of his sophomore album with a performance on “Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel.”
Performing with a full band, Childish Gambino gave a confusing serenade to a love interest on Tuesday in “3005,” promising to love her till, “3005.” But he also describes the relationship with phrases like, “oh my God, you pay for your friends,” or “girl, why you Mufasa.” Fans can at least appreciate the actor/rapper comparing said gal to the cleverly cunning and popular lion from “Lion King” and rhyming with “casa.”
“Crawl” shifted gears tremendously into a “mic drop” moment, appearing to lift beats from Radiohead’s “Amnesiac” and splendidly intertwining with a cello player. Performing his new material live shows a more composed and self-assured Gambino who is blazing his own trail. Check out Reverb’s album review for “Because the Internet” over .
