Crews battled an apartment fire in Denver early Wednesday that forced residents out into the cold.

Firefighters responded to the Vantage Point Apartments at 1105 S. Cherry St. a little after 4 a.m., the Denver Fire Department confirmed. That’s near East Mississippi Avenue and South Colorado Boulevard.

The fire appears to have started on the first floor, according to officials on the scene.

Evacuated residents huddled in the building next door to stay warm until RTD buses began to arrive about 5:20 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross said two units were damaged. The five adults and one child who there were given assistance.
