After playing a few times in Colorado last year, upcoming indie-folk band is quickly building a relationship with this state. Of the band’s Colorado performances in 2013, two were sold out, back-to-back days at the Ogden Theatre. Now, continuing the Head and the Heart’s upward trajectory, the band has announced its first headlining show at with .

The Head and the Heart and Iron & Wine hit the mountain amphitheater on Aug. 14.

Formed in 2009, the band has quickly gained popularity over the course of two albums on Sub Pop Records, most recently 2013’s “Let’s Be Still.”

Frontman Josiah Johnson about the Head and the Heart’s success:

“I don’t think we have changed too much because all the blowing up kind of happened so quickly. But there was never a point where this thing went zero to 60. We were on the road for two years, so we were hidden away making this album, and it was like the next thing for us. But it has been crazy, and this tour has felt like a big leap. In time, the momentum has made people find out about us…last time we played in Denver was at the Gothic, and maybe that sold out day of…now we are playing two Ogden shows, and that feels like a leap.”

Tickets go on sale Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. and cost $37.50-$44.50.
