Sunglasses and elevated cell phones were in high abundance at the Saturday night, and for good reason. returned to its home state and wild youthful fan base in Colorado for a sold out show on the “Get Lazer’d Tour.” In addition to a thunderous custom sound system that had low-end vibrating the ballroom, Saturday’s show brought the brightest and most syncopated laser show the band has used to date.

Savoy’s aggressive brand of EDM is a crowd favorite for the growing basshead demographic of the Colorado scene, but they are more than just another dubstep act. Producers Gray Smith and Ben Ebert dive between deep house, synth-driven electro, unexpected tempo changes and pockets of unrelenting womp, all backed by the casual open-handed drumming of Mike Kelly. It is a combination difficult to embrace on a day-to-day basis, but when fueled by a barrage of strobes and a constantly evolving landscape of lasers, a Savoy show truly sucks you in to another world.
The night featured hits like “I’m In Need” and an encore of the popular “We Are the Sun” while also teasing remixes such as the tribal Florida State war chant and new material like “I Dare You.”
By the time the show ended, a scantily clad crowd returned to the Denver cold seeing spots and hearing not much of anything. That didn’t stop them from smiling.
