To introduce a change in formats, a Denver radio station is offering “5,000 songs in a row with no commercials.” Actually the stunt on KDHT through April 7, is sponsored by Corona with plenty of plugs.

The switch: “Jack FM” is gone from KDHT (owned by Virginia Beach-based Max Radio, licensed to Bennett, Colorado). In its place is the alternative format, branded as “Project 107X” or ” .”

Gone is the middle-of-the-road pop sound. In its place are Weezer, Kings of Leon, System of a Down, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine and such. Listeners are encouraged to request songs via the station’s website.

Talent includes former 106.7 KBPI afternoon host Greg Stone, who joined Jack-FM last April.

Listeners may recall this is the station, at 107.1 FM, that pulled the “Pot radio” stunt in December 2012 as a way to gain attention for the Jack FM format. (.

Stone said the “classic alt-rock hits” format is geared to women, average age 38, but “is male-friendly…You’ll hear Lourde and you’ll hear Metallica.” The station’s lineup and talent list will be announced April 7 at 6 a.m.
