
Castle Rock has deemed a protest to a petition referendum on the repeal of the town’s open-carry firearm ban to be invalid.

The town clerk determined the protest did not “comply with statutory requirements” and is invalid, the town said in a news release Wednesday.
On Monday at a special town council meeting, members will decide whether to rescind the January change or put the issue to voters later this year.
The April 14 meeting will start at 6 p.m. in town council chambers at town hall, 100 N. Wilcox Street, at which there will be time for public comment.
