Did you expect any surprises at the Billboard Music Awards 2014? Of course not. The night saw Justin Timberlake take home seven awards and Imagine Dragons win five. But the reason we watched it was for the performances, which this year brought together Miley Cyrus and the Flaming Lips and a ressurected Michael Jackson in hologram form.

has been quickly carving out a name for herself with her hot spit fire verses and skin tight outfits. The Oakland rapper strutted her stuff on her proper hit, “Fancy,” with a little help from . But Azalea had a little more to give. She momentarily gave up the stage to the new scenester, , to perform “Problem.”

may have not been in Las Vegas for her contribution, but the green haired pop princess was hardly missed by performing “Birthday” remotely from the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena in England. The over-the-top Perry had all of the necessary birthday party favors with the only obvious one missing, birthday cake.

The comeback of the year belongs to . The pianist took on a medley of heart melting, “All of Me” and “You & I (Nobody In the World).”
Miley Cyrus and the Flaming Lips “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”

Things got a little weird with and Wayne Coyne on Sunday. The two wore matching frilly tops to cover the timeless Beatles classic, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” The slowed down cover had Cyrus hushing her vocals while Coyne banged his drum.
Michael Jackson “Slave to the Rhythm”

Michael Jackson has gone the route of Tupac. He’s been resurrected in hologram form. The King of Pop made his first posthumous performance in Las Vegas to perform “Slave to the Rhythm” with an army of dancers in true MJ fashion. The song comes from his new posthumous album, “Xscape.” And yes, the holographic Jackson did moonwalk.
