“We need to make sure that we have about eight cars going to this call and that they are rifle ready,” an officer says in the nearly minute-long audio clip.
The audio also describes the white suburban carrying Schoolboy Q that fled from Red Rocks following the shooting outside of the venue.
A team of deputies is investigating several tips about a possible suspect who fired multiple rifle shots into an SUV carrying Schoolboy Q and three other men after Feed the Rocks featuring Nas and Flying Lotus.
“It does appear to be a targeted shooting rather than random,” Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, said Saturday. “I don’t know that we have any understanding about why this occurred.”
In March, Schoolboy Q put on a sold-out show at the Ogden Theatre in Denver. During the event, someone in the crowd threw an object at the performer and he jumped off the stage to confront the individual.
Security staff separated the rapper from the audience member, and Schoolboy Q climbed back onto the stage and finished the show.
