Interview with Nancy Parker, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: In the past five years, I have planned and hosted weddings for my two daughters. I soon discovered that in the 30 years since planning my own wedding, the bridal industry had changed a bit. In the months and months of planning for one very special day, it became apparent to me that love is in the details. So, shortly after the last wedding, I created Ribbons & Bows because of my passion for putting love in the details. Not every bride wants to worry about the little things, especially on her big day, when it’s all about her and the dress.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: Ribbons & Bows is a service company that’s been built exclusively to enhance the special touches to a wedding day, ensure the ultimate guest welcome experience and support wedding planners so they can take care of their brides. My commitment to every bride is to treat her wedding like it is my daughter’s wedding all over again. My team and I promise customized creativity, class and care — everything will be “tied with a ribbon and touched with a bow.” Beyond weddings, we can put love in the details of special events, corporate functions, gift baskets, package wrapping and more.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: I love meeting people who are starting to plan the most important day of their lives. They are happy, excited and open to the possibilities that are endless. I enjoy taking the time to perfect the details. I love tying ribbons and folding perfect corners on packages. Some people would find the repetitive process of stuffing bags or folding programs to be tedious, but I enjoy the meticulous method of arranging the items in every bag to be well-positioned and elegantly organized. The idea of taking the time to design something that has the bride’s personal commitment and seal of approval and then to be able to do it with such care is what makes it so meaningful.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Almost all of my business has been from referrals, so our biggest challenge right now is getting our name out there to attract new clients. Many people want and need our services, but are not aware that we are here. We are a family-owned, Colorado-based company that is ready and willing to put love into your details — and we’d love to be a part of helping plan your wedding or event.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: It is not our intent to compete with the wedding planners/coordinators, but rather assist them by managing the little details so they can focus on the “bigger picture stuff” while taking care of their brides and client needs. So, that means no job is too small for us.
