
1 Mailbox survives fireworks. On July 4, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy went to the 5600 block of South Pierson Street in the Littleton area after some fireworks went off in a homeowner’s mailbox. The homeowner said he heard loud bangs resembling fireworks, but didn’t think much of it until his neighbor said there was smoke coming out of his mailbox. He said he would clean the mailbox and it would probably be fine.
2 Lawn mower turns up in ditch. On July 4, deputies were sent to an area near the Lilley Gulch Recreation Center, 6147 S. Holland Way in the Littleton area, because a lawn mower was found in a ditch. The deputies were told the mower belonged to South Jeffco Parks, which had received it for free. It had been seen in use three days earlier.
3 Playground damage reported. A man called deputies on July 6 after he noticed some damage to playground equipment in the 10100 block of West Lake Drive in the Littleton area. The man told police he saw four men hanging out near the park and, when he later took his dog for a walk, noticed the damage. He did not witness the men commit any crime.
4 Scammers reported. On June 25, a deputy went to the 6300 block of South Teller Street, Lakewood, on a fraud report. A woman told the deputy that her son had enlisted in the National Guard and the recruiter warned that they might get calls from criminals asking for money. Later, her mother received a call saying her grandson was in a Mexican jail and needed bail money.
