A bicyclist died Saturday afternoon near the summit of Independence Pass just outside of Aspen, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office.
The office responded to Colorado 82 about 1:30 p.m. after receiving reports that the cyclist was being administered CPR by people who saw the rider in distress.
“The cyclist was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene,” the office said.
identified the cyclist as Steven Alan Menscher, 51, of Aspen. The county coroner’s office was working to determine a cause of death.
