U.S. Sen. Mark Udall. (Karl Gehring, Denver Post file)
Re: “Mark Udall, Obamacare and Colorado,” Aug. 28 letters to the editor.
Letter-writer Ann Freeman stated that Sen. Mark Udall’s vote on the Affordable Care Act was the right thing for Colorado. She also wrote that “any policy that was canceled was canceled because it was substandard.”
I am one of more than 300,000 Coloradans whose insurance policies were canceled because of this new law. My policy was not substandard. It covered my needs with a much lower premium. The new insurance policy that I was forced to purchase has increased my deductible from $2,500 to $6,000. It also increased the cost of a prescription drug that I take from $60 to $177.
No small figures here that I personally bear.

This letter was published in the Aug. 30 edition. The letter-writer who wrote that “the middle class is being hammered by the presidentap policies” would probably like to learn the hammering of America’s middle class started in the early 1970s, when productivity gains started their decades-long trend away from workers, towards the richest.
