3) Oddball Comedy Festival — Sept. 7, Red Rocks Amphitheatre
The lineup for this year’s Oddball Comedy Festival reads like the closing credits of the biggest funny movies and sitcoms for the last five years. Aziz Ansari, Louis C.K., Chris Hardwick, Sarah Silverman, Demetri Martin and others will all share the Red Rocks Amphitheatre stage on Sept. 7, for the stand-up festival’s return to Colorado. The lineup boasts depth, diversity and a knowledge of who are the biggest names in stand-up today. Like last year, Oddball will feature two stages of comedy, with the second stage hosted by Brody Stevens. ($99, redrocksonline.com)
2) Drake, Lil Wayne — Sept. 10, Red Rocks Amphitheatre
Isn’t it nice to see Drake and Lil Wayne still good friends after all these years? Back when Drake was nothing more than Aubrey Graham, Lil Wayne took the then-“Degrassi” actor under his wing to mentor as the next heavy-hitting rapper. Well, since then, Drake has become one of hip-hop’s hottest talents of the last few years. His latest album, “Nothing Was the Same,” debuted at No. 1 upon its release last year. Nearly 20 years into his career, the elder Lil Wayne is still going, though not quite at the pace of his peak years. The power duo stops at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sept. 10. 1) St. Vincent — Sept. 6, Denver Botanic Gardens
“I was going for something that felt like a fever dream, and that was a little bit about the supernatural and the subconscious narrative we have with shapes and movement,” about her manic live show. She’ll be covered in blood, she’ll stand on a pedestal like a cult leader and, most importantly, she’ll shred on the guitar. Touring in support of her self-titled fifth release, St. Vincent is at the height of her career. And her violently brilliant live show will be a nice juxtaposition at the beautiful Botanic Gardens.
