In February, a video surfaced of former Ravens running back Ray Rice dragging his out-cold fiancee out of an Atlantic City casino elevator.
In March, Rice was indicted on aggravated assault charges. A day later, he and Janay Palmer married.
In May, for the first time since the video surfaced — Rice saying he didn’t deem himself a “failure” because “failure is getting knocked down and not getting up.” Janay also apologized for “her role”:
“I do deeply regret the role I played in that incident, but I can say we have worked through it and continue to work on our relationship, being better parents to our daughter, and being better role models for our community…I know that Ray will win back your trust.”
On Monday, from the incident, this one of Rice punching Palmer while behind closed elevator doors. Hours later, the Ravens released him and the NFL suspended him indefinitely.
On Tuesday, , this time on Instagram, blaming who she believes is the real culprit of the incident:
“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the face that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret everyday is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his a– off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love it! Ravensnation we love you!”
