1 Friends urinate on wrong door. Police responding to a burglary call in the 7800 block of Owens Street in Arvada on Aug. 8 arrived to find three men outside the apartment. Two fled, and the third appeared highly intoxicated and yelled profanities before being handcuffed. The suspect said they were trying to wake their friend, and police found the doorbell ripped off with urine covering the front door. They were at the wrong address and he was issued a summons for interference after lying about his friends’ names.
2 Bus stop turns dangerous. A woman sitting at the bus stop at West 64th Avenue and Oak Street, Arvada, was pelted in the head Aug. 22 by a water bottle thrown from a passing vehicle.
3 Mail snatched. A dark gray Volkswagen Jetta pulled up to a mailbox in the 7700 block of Newland Street, Arvada, on Aug. 21. Neighbors reported seeing a heavyset female driver reach in and steal mail — including a check for $150 dropped off earlier by the homeowner’s daughter.
4 Nanny scammed. A nanny came to the Arvada Police Department, 8101 Ralston Road, on Aug. 21 to report being scammed. After posting her services online, she received an out-of- state check for $2,950 with instructions to purchase a wheelchair and send $600 back. She bought a $600 cash card and forwarded the number to the scammer. The bank later informed her the check was fraudulent.
5 Handgun stolen. A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .40 was reported stolen Aug. 25 from a car parked in the garage of a home in the 10100 block of West 55th Drive, Arvada.
