It’s official. This summer was a record setter for high country lodges in the West, . Occupancies and revenues reached all-time highs through August, and the momentum appears to be carrying into winter with increased bookings at mountain resorts, according to Denver’s DestiMetrics, which tracks lodging in 19 mountain resorts in six Western states.

From May through August, mountain lodges reported double-digit percentage increases in occupancy and revenues over the previous summer.

DestiMetrics research showed resorts have already collected 101.8 percent of the total revenue collected in summer 2013, and receipts from September and October are still pending.

“Although we still have two more months to add to our final summer tally, we know the record is set and we are now going to turn our focus to the upcoming winter,” DestiMetrics director Ralf Garrison said.

Reservations for winter are up over last year as well. DestiMetrics’ early booking data show an 8.7 percent increase in occupancy from November through February, with gains in each month.
