Darren Fletcher is captain of Scotland’s national soccer team, but when it comes time to decide his nation’s independence, the midfielder will be watching from the sideline.

“Because I live in England, I can’t vote,” Fletcher told The Denver Post in a June interview as he and his Man United teammates prepared for a .

“The fact that I can’t vote makes it irrelevant really,” Fletcher said, declining to disclose a position on the issue. “You know, itap a really individual choice, and the fact that I can’t vote, it takes it out of my hands really, so we’ll have to wait and see.”
