Parts of southwest Colorado are digging out after heavy rainfall Sunday morning caused flash floods, sending debris and mud over roads and into some homes.

Up to two inches of rain fell in the Durango area over a six hour span, the National Weather Service in Grand Junction said.

that several homes were flooded by the rains and that emergency management crews were plowing debris from area roadways in the early morning hours.

The weather service says more rain is possible in the Durango area Sunday afternoon and into the evening.
