Rudy Zitti, who works for Americans for Prosperity, talks with Loveland resident Barbara Schmachtenberger outside her home as Zitti goes door-to-door handing out flyers and talking to voters on Sept. 10. (RJ Sangosti, The Denver Post)
As a volunteer for Sen. Mark Udall’s re-election campaign, I have talked with many people. Though voters have myriad reasons for favoring one candidate and disfavoring the other, I urge each voter to look at the big picture and not just at personal “hot button” issues. Go beyond the sound-bite ads and figure out for yourself if the candidate will work overall toward what is important to you, your family and our state.
For me, the biggest issue is whether our elected leaders are concerned about us as individuals and about the common good versus whether they are serving (and supported by) big money and big corporations. I’m concerned about real opportunities for all and not just for the wealthy few.
Talk it over with yourself, your family, friends and, yes, even the volunteer who calls you on the phone. Letap talk.
