A small dog was killed Wednesday morning in what Wheat Ridge police are calling a “possible coyote attack.”
The incident happened on the east side of the city near Founders Park in the 3700 block of Jay Street.
No one reported seeing the attack, but police said evidence points to a coyote.
Police advise residents to take precautions to avoid foxes and coyotes. “Pets are a food source to coyotes,” the release said. Owners should keep their pets on a short leash, especially at dawn and at dusk.
