A dive team recovered the body of a 57-year-old man from a water storage reservoir near Windsor on Sunday, officials said.

The man had gone to the reservoir Sunday morning to sail a remote controlled boat, said Todd Vess, Windsor Severance Fire Rescue Battalion Chief.

When he did not return, the victim’s family reported him missing around 12:30 p.m.

WSFR arrived at the reservoir, which Vess said is not open to the public, and spotted the victim’s truck at the entrance. Some of his belongings were found on shore. After WSFR did a surface scan of the lake, they found the victim’s boat on the other side of the reservoir. The Greeley dive team was then called to assist, Vess said.

The dive team found the victim’s body around 4:45 p.m. about 50 feet from shore, Vess said.

The victim’s family was on scene.
