Chatfield senior (Ohio), he announced Monday night via Twitter.
“Excited to announce my commitment to play baseball at Miami University, thank you to everyone who made this dream possible,” Winkler wrote on Twitter.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound infielder had a .525 batting average with eight doubles, three home runs and 24 runs batted in for the Chargers last season.
A two-sport star, Winkler is also the quarterback for Chatfield. He has completed 99-of-136 passes for 942 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions this season for the 2-4 Chargers.
