About 80 percent of the 326 quarantines for livestock with vesicular stomatitis have been lifted as of Thursday.

An has been running rampant through the state’s livestock and is said to be the worst in roughly a decade. The quarantines have been issued statewide, although the virus .

“As warm fall temperatures persist, some fly population are still proving capable of spreading this disease,” state veterinarian Keith Roeher said in a statement. “Therefore, livestock owners must still work to prevent flies on their property.”

Statewide, 65 quarantines are still in effect, while 261 have been lifted.
