dance: Dracula by leaps and bounds
oct. 31-nov. 2. The Colorado Ballet takes Halloween up a notch, artistically speaking, bringing back its popular “Dracula” in time for the holiday. The production has just the right amount of spooky to make it a good bet for kids big and small. The costumes and theatrics keep children from squirming while the movement makes it appropriate for adults. The piece comes from choreographer Michael Pink and composer Philip Feeney, the team that was also behind Colorado Ballet’s recent “Peter Pan” as well as 20 other collaborations. The Colorado Ballet Orchestra will be in the pit for the event, which one Denver Post critic called “an unsettling mix of the sinister and sensual.” Expect to see Dmitry Trubchanov in the key role. Oct. 31-Nov. 2, Ellie Cauklins Opera House, Denver Performing Arts Center. $25-$91. 303-837-8888 or .
