If anyone had told us a year ago, or a month ago, or last week even, that would freestyle over a song, we probably would have loudly and rudely laughed in that person’s face.

But, here we are Nov. 5, 2014 and Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar has rapped over Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award winner Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off.” Should we repeat that?

No, we don’t need to, just listen to it below, because it’s actually — dare we say it — pretty good.

Among references to strip clubs and his flow, he raps about pop music, haters and white girls.

This, friends, is the world we now live in, a world where Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift are one. Take a look around. This is the future.
