
A proposed in south Jefferson County will fail for the third time since 2000.
show 54.2 percent of district residents voting “no” on the measure that would have increased taxes by four mills, or about $96 per year on a home valued at $300,000. Currently, a taxpayer in a $300,000 home in the district pays $178.40 toward funding Foothills Park and Recreation services.
Mill levy increase questions also failed in 2008 and 2006.
Had the increase passed, it would have provided the district with $3.7 million in additional funds annually starting in 2015 and given the district the ability to leverage grant funding improvement projects. Part of the money would have gone toward funding the .
Foothills Park and Recreation executive director Ron Hopp said in July that staff had identified $60 million in needs. The district currently has an annual budget of $22 million.
