A lockdown at West Middle School in Greenwood Village has been lifted several hours after a man phoned in a threat.
The situation was “resolved safely,” according to Tustin Amole, spokeswoman for the Cherry Creek School District. Officials said they believe the call was placed from outside the United States.
No classes are being held at the school as it’s a parent-teacher conference day.
“The male party stated that he was in a vehicle in the parking lot of the school and was going to shoot anyone who came outside as well as all of those inside the school,” police said.
The call was made about 11:15 a.m., police said.
Conferences for the rest of the day have been cancelled. Officers from the Greenwood Village Police Department are on scene and clearing the building, said Amole.
Information about who called in the threat was not immediately available. Officials say are continuing to investigate the threat.
School will resume Monday as scheduled.
