It’s a ranch, and it’s a townhome, too. Remington has a hit with low-maintenance models at Arvada’s Whisper Creek

“I wish I had four neighborhoods like this to sell,” says Remington Homes’ Joran Caywood, who’ll show you some roomy ranch townhomes in master-planned Whisper Creek in Arvada – where 50 of these have sold since January, now running into the final half of the sites available. “Everybody wants these,” she adds, noting that sales have gone to people coming from as far as Parker and Colorado Springs – not counting the ones moving from out of state to be near their Arvada kids and grandkids.

The cross between a townhouse and a ranch is not an easy trick to pull off, Caywood adds. “People look for townhomes with ranch plans, but when they find them, they’re usually configurations that have two or three 2-story homes the middle and ranches only on the ends,” she says. “They want to be in an all-ranch community.”

That’s exactly what Remington delivers – every home a ranch, with options for a 3-car garage on some sites, and for finished basements. Should anybody be waiting around for a year or so, to see whether they can still find them then? “It’s not going to happen,” Caywood says. If you want a ranch townhouse, she adds, Remington has two general options, but both require seeing the four models now, west of Standley Lake off W.87th Parkway just east of Indiana.

Option one involves a few homes that Remington has coming ready for early 2015 move-in – one set for January, a ‘110’ plan with 1,393 square feet, basement storage space, and a 2½ car garage. The builder has included granite tile counters and stainless appliances in the kitchen, along with a full sweep of wood floors in all but the bedrooms and bath areas. The price is $371,717.

If you do need more time to plan, you can see a new phase of six sites Remington is opening; plus three more sites that are ready for contracts, that back to an interior park. Those allow you choices on whether to get a basement, and perhaps to have Remington finish an added guest bedroom and rec area down there as part of the package.

You’ll also see an attractive master plan where Remington already has the pool and clubhouse in place, close to a cottonwood lined open space; with a botanic garden, fishing lake, ballfields and more amenities set to arrive. You can get a taste of the community ambience that’s being generated by the first arrivals, Caywood says. “They love it,” she adds. “There’s a sense of camaraderie; people are already trying to get groups and potlucks going.”

She and Denise Baum-Haynes will have refreshments out today, between Indiana Street and Alkire on W. 87th Parkway; take Indiana north past W. 86th to W. 87th and turn east. If arriving from U.S. 36, take Interlocken Loop south from Flatiron Crossing to a right on Colo. 128, then head west two miles to Indiana and head south.
