SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Marcus Mariota threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns and ran for three more scores as No. 3 Oregon rolled to a dominating 51-13 victory over No. 8 Arizona in the Pac-12 championship game.
The convincing win assures the Ducks (12-1) a spot in the inaugural College Football Playoff. The only mystery left is where Oregon will be seeded.
The playoff committe will announce its selections Sunday.
Mariota made a strong case that he should be a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy. He completed 25-of-38 passes. Darren Carrington caught seven of Mariota’s passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.
With the victory, Oregon avenged its only loss of the season, a 31-24 setback against the Wildcats on Oct. 2.
Arizona finished the regular season 10-3 in its third year under Rich Rodriguez.
