
Are people starting to take seriously? Bathed in dark red light and wearing a Santa hat, iLoveMakonnen and the Roots played a thoughtful take on his hilarious track “Tuesday” for the first time on TV … on a Tuesday.
Always known for his cutting edge taste in music, Jimmy Fallon nabbed iLoveMakonnen after his Grammy nomination last week to do his first late night performance on “The Tonight Show.”
While iLoveMakonnen’s late night debut wasn’t as funny as his Drake-assisted video for “Tuesday,” the addition of the Roots added some depth to the production.
The song, which features vocals from Drake, was released in September, and with the help of the OVO head honcho, quickly gained Internet steam and eventually peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. Last week “Tuesday” was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in the Grammys.
