Interview with Lindsay Waldron and Karrah Bunjes, owners

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: We met while working in small business retail together in the past, where we realized we shared a common goal of opening our own boutique. After developing the Wilde Belle concept and branding together for about a year, we opened the online store, and are so thrilled to have opened our first retail location at the Belmar Shopping Center in Lakewood. We are two great friends who have backgrounds working in everything from Nordstrom retail to motorcycle photography and graphic design. We feel our wide range of past job and life experience has perfectly prepared us for the many angles of boutique ownership.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: As a small business, it has been so fun connecting with customers in a more personal way — something not often experienced when shopping in large chain stores. Wilde Belle offers a unique mix of brands handpicked by the owners, with a country chic, classy Colorado feel. We take pride in high-quality items that last — from handcrafted cowboy boots to beautifully unique pieces from small-business jewelers.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: We love contributing to positive self-esteem for women by showing them new ways to present themselves. We also enjoy the process of discovering new designers and brands across the country to bring to Colorado.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Our biggest challenge as a new business is getting the word out there. We are so excited to be open and can’t wait to grow!

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: We host a women’s networking group called Coffee & Connections at our store on Thursday mornings at 10. The group is run by Rose Chamberlain, who started the very successful first chapter in Longmont. It allows business professionals to meet and interact, enhance their marketing, promote themselves and work with local nonprofits. It is a professional networking group designed to help members grow their business as well as inspire personal growth.
