Re: “For some patients, itap more than just cosmetic surgery,” Dec. 28 Meredith Cohen Carroll column.

Like Meredith Cohen Carroll, I am also a breast cancer survivor and developed a great adoration for Dr. Michael Bateman’s work in breast reconstruction. Unlike her, however, I felt Dr. Bateman’s manner was nothing but warm. Her description of “icy” caught both me and my husband off guard. From the start, he made every effort to answer all my questions, and there were a lot. I felt his honest input was important, which sometimes meant quashing my preferences to reality. His humor and encouragement at each visit were fantastic for this young mom who just wanted to get back to normal life.

They say to surround yourself with like-minded people. Carroll notes Dr. Bateman’s exceedingly kindhearted staff. He surrounded himself with the best staff, just like himself. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Dr. Bateman’s team to anyone going through breast cancer.
