Two people were killed in a head-on, two-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 south of Fountain on Monday morning, the Colorado State Patrol said.
The crash happened about 9:15 a.m. when a Ford Mustang crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a semi-trailer hauling fuel, Trooper Nate Reid said.
Both of the people in the Mustang were pronounced dead on the scene. Reid said the victims’ identities were not yet known.
Reid said it was “too early” to know if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
The state patrol is investigating the wreck. Lanes have been closed in the area as the inquiry into the crash continues.
