Re: “TABOR may put roadblock in front of I-70 fix,” Jan. 11 editorial.

The Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights was chosen by voters not because they don’t want nice roads or thriving schools. It was chosen by voters because they don’t trust government officials and the contractors they hire to spend money wisely. Just look at massive cost overruns for things like DIA or RTD and you can understand why. It is the politicians’ responsibility to show that they will spend that money as if it were their own. If they did, then I suppose the voters might loosen the purse strings a bit. Let’s get more folks in government who understand a bottom line and balance sheet.
