A woman who systematically doctored tax returns to get clients inflated refunds pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court Tuesday to one fraud conspiracy count.

30, of Stockton, Calif., faces up to five years in prison for the felony charge.

As part of her plea agreement, the U.S. District Attorney’s office dismissed 30 tax fraud-related charges against Rasamee.

In exchange, she agreed to testify at the trial of alleged co-conspirator Austin Ray, 46, of Denver.

Between 2006 and 2010, Ray and Rasamee ran a Colorado-based business called Cheapertaxes.

The two prepared income taxes including false income and deduction amounts to obtain inflated tax refunds.

When clients didn’t pay their fee of between $200 to $250 up front, the two had them request that refunds be paid to Cheapertaxes. In some cases they did not , court records say.

Cheapertaxes would sometimes give false names of the tax preparer on tax forms, the lawsuit said.

Ray and Rasamee bought two luxury cars, a Bentley and a Maserati, worth $140,000 with their ill-gotten gains, according to records.
