A Fort Collins man out on bail for a number of felony offenses was arrested Tuesday on new charges after being apprehended by a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office K-9.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to call at about 4 p.m. from a residence on the 6600 block of East County Road 66. A man had called saying someone was at his door and wanted to kill him.

The officers said they found William Scott Pettigrew, 30, in a field near the home. After being told to wait until other officers arrived, Pettigrew instead fled.

Officers set up a perimeter search, with a deputy eventually spotting Pettigrew, who tried to again run from the area. The K-9 was deployed and Pettigrew was arrested.

During the incident, deputies said, they learned Pettigrew was out on bond for multiple felony offenses in Adams County and that he had an extensive history with law enforcement that included the possession and use of weapons, as well as other violent offenses.

Following his arrest Tuesday, Pettigrew was taken to a hospital for treatment of dog bites on his arm. He was later booked into the Larimer County Jail and charged with first-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, obstructing government operations and violation of bail conditions.
