A delivery truck in Aurora hit a woman in a wheelchair that was on a sidewalk, dragging the victim into the street, police said.
The incident happened about 1:45 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of South Peoria Street, according to an Aurora Police Department news release.
Witnesses at the scene told police that the driver of the meat delivery truck was leaving a parking lot and came to a stop before making a right turn to head north on Peoria Street.
A 50-year-old woman was in a motorized wheelchair on the sidewalk near the turning truck.
“The truck struck the wheelchair, dragging it and the victim out into the street, running over the victim,” police said. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died a short time later.
