DENVER (AP) — Colorado Democrats are announcing legislation that would allow sick people to choose when they die.
Three Democrats plan Tuesday to announce a bill to give dying patients the option to end their lives.
The debate over whether terminally ill patients should be allowed to end their lives with doctor-prescribed medication is a national one.
Five other states allow patients to seek aid in dying — Oregon, Washington, Montana, Vermont and New Mexico. Legislation is pending in New Jersey.
Colorado’s bill would likely allow doctors to prescribe life-ending medication to some terminally-ill patients.
